Vision
To develop professionals having sound computer profiency.

To impart quality computer education to the students and to groom them to be technologist, professionals and dedicated citizens.

• To enable the students to understand the basic knowledge underpinning these disciplines.
• To provide educational facilities for training the students for career in computer field.

Departmental activities :
• Students profile (Academic) :
  Students who join the F.Y.B.Sc. Computer Science course are basically from the vernacularmedium and not fluent in communication skills.
Staff members from the department strive hard to improve their overall personality.
• Outstanding achievements of students :
  Ms. Afrin Kasu of S.Y.B.Sc. class participated and secured second prize in the essay writing competition organised by Maharashtra Academy of Sciences.
• Competitions / special efforts for the development of students :
  • Annual function ‘E-Week’ is conducted by the department where the students are provided a platform to participate and show their talents.
• Various events undertaken in E-Week are as follows -

• Special efforts :
  • As a part of remedial course academically weak students are identified and special coaching classes are conducted to enable them to secure good marks.
• Department of computer science conducts remedial course during Ganpati vacation, Diwali vacation and Christmas vacation.
• Under remedial course periodical tests (practical tests, oral tests, assignments) are conducted and the performance is analysed.
• By conducting parent-teachers meet,the performance of the students is communicated to their parents. Re-examination is conducted for the students who are failed in periodical tests.
• Organisation of seminars / workshops :
  • Seminars by the students are conducted to improve their confidence level and develop leadership qualities.
• On 7th January 2004 our S.Y.B.Sc. and T.Y.B.Sc. students given seminars on various topics like MODEM, SSAD, operating sysem, firewalls of internet, oracle and SQL.
• Every academic year department conducts workshop for project development of T.Y.B.Sc. Students.
• Expert lecture series :
  Every academic year expert lecture series is conducted for T.Y.B.Sc. students. Topics covered under this lecture series are from their syllabus -

  Seminars by eminent personalities are arranged to develop overall personality of the students.
  •Seminar on ‘Computer graphics’ by Dr. Mukund Sanglikar from Mithibai College, Vile parle on 5th January 2004.
  •Seminar on ‘Art of mind control’ by Mr. Gokuleshwar Das from I.S.K.O.N. on 7th January 2004.
  •Seminar on ‘Computer networking’ by Mr. J. W. Bakal, Director, M. G. M. Institutes of Management and Research on 16th January 2003.
 
Departmental social work :
  • To introduce the orphan students to the world of computers, a training programme ‘Computer vision’ was undertaken by the faculties of Department of Computer Science.
  • From 22nd April 2004 to 30th April 2004. The 13 orphan students from Kasturba Gandhi Ashram, Pune were participated in this training programme.
 
Others :
  • MS-CIT -The department has introduced MS-CIT Course which will be helpful for getting jobs to the students. 13 students from our college took admission for this course.
  Itizen - In collaboration with Pioneer eBizz, Fundamental Course is introduced in the department. 22 students from our college took admission for this course.
