Departmental Activities:
Competitions / special efforts for the development of the students by the department :
 
• Ad-mad show -
Students of B.M.S. participated in Ad-mad show to enhance their intellectual skills and abilities in the field of advertising under commerce association.
 
• Business quiz -
To keep them in toe with others in the business world, under commerce association, department arranged a quiz for all the students.
 
• Ad-marketing campaign -
It was conducted by the third year students to enhance their potentials and to develop competitive feeling in them.
 
• A Power point presentation -
The power point presentation competition was arranged for the first year students
 
• Awareness programme -
As part of their internal examination the third year students were asked to create an awareness programme on various social issues, which gave them an opportunity to identify their hidden skill and effectively utilise their potentials.
 
• Project works -
The project works are assign to each student to get practical knowledge from the industries, which also provided adequate basic understanding about management education among the students.
 
• Effective utilisation of potential of students -
Considering the socio-economic background of the students, department takes special efforts for the development of the students by giving them exercise in public speaking, conducting presentation, group discussion and various group activities, thereby identifying and channelising their hidden skills for effective utilisation of their potentials and also for better class involvement and improvement.
 
• Elocution and debate competition -
Department encourages the student to participate in elocution and debate to develop the debating ability on current business topic which enhances their speaking ability and overcome fear.
 
• English speaking course -
English speaking course is conducted for the first year students where professionals are hired from Centre for Professional Skills, Navi Mumbai, to develop the students in public speaking.
 
• Expert lecture series -
Every year an expert lecture series is conducted for the T.Y.B.M.S. students in which experts from various colleges are invited to guide our students on various topics concerned with their university examination.
 
• Parent-teachers meeting -
Every year a parent-teachers meeting is organised for T.Y.B.M.S. students to have an interaction between parents, teachers and students with a view to improve the performance and confidence of the students.
 
• Mock interviews -
The mock interviews are arranged to prepare them to face interviews and to improve upon their weaknesses.
 
• Group discussion -
For awareness and better class involvement and improvement the group discussion were organised for the students.
 
• Fresher’s and farewell party -
To give a warm welcome and collectively wish them best in life fresher’s and farewell party were arranged every year.
 
• Participation in intercollegiate programmes :
•Department encourages the students to participate in various intercollegiate programmes in order to face challenges and competition in life.
•Students had participated in the programme named of ‘Oasis’ organised by Pendharkar College, Dombivali.
•Birla College, Kalyan, conducted a programme named ‘Udaan’ in which the students of S.Y.B.M.S., Ms. Sapna She?y, Ms. Fatema Panvelwala and Mr. Yogesh Patil stood second in the antakshari competition.
•Students had also a?ended the ‘Sestomania’ organised by JLT magazines and won prizes.
•The first and second year students had participated in the management events known as ‘Manzeal’ conducted by Bhavan’s H. S. College of Commerce and Mangement, Andheri.
 
• Organisation of seminars / workshops :
• Department arranged a series of seminars ‘Way to success’ to enrich, enhance the skill, ability and knowledge of students. Seminars played a cameo for the students.
• In the year 2002-2003 three days seminar was organised by the department where in personalities like Mr. T. R. Ramakrishana, a consultant dealt with motivation to create a zeal among students for their work. Mr. Acharya Rammohan, a consultant dealt with self-esteem presentation and negotiation. In attempt to enhance their skill in public speaking, Dr. D’Mello helped the students to built a positive attitude, open-mindedness and flexibility in thought and tactics.
• In continuation with the effort, the department organised four days seminar in the year 2003-2004. Mr. Ramesh G. Khare, C.E.O., Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal Ltd. inaugurated the seminar. Prof. E.V Swaminathan, Fr. Agnels College of Engineering dealt with memory management and living life beautifully. Prof. E.V. Girish, S.I.E.S College of Arts, Science and Commerce, dealt with overcoming fear and diluting stress. Mr. Harish Patel associated with art of living, dealt with building confidence. Mr. Rajan Sawant an H. R. Consultant briefed the students on performance appraisals and case studies. Mr. Amar Paritosh, I.I.T. Engineer who has conducted training programmes in several countries in middle east and asia pacific, helped the students to create a mindset to pay considerable a?ention to etiquettes, netiquette and protocol.
• A workshop was conducted on ‘Shaping your attitude’ for the T.Y.B.M.S. students.
 
• Participation in the seminars :
• Students participated in an international seminar conducted by Rai University and NIILM University on 23rd January 2004 at Indian Merchants Chamber, Mumbai where Prof. Paul Argenti and Prof. Mary Munter from The Amos Tuck School of Business Dartmouth University (U.S.A.) had enlightened our student on ‘Rethinking media and corporate communication in the indian context’.
• The students of F.Y.B.M.S. class a?ended a seminar on environmental management ‘You turn’ where Mrs. Menaka Gandhi (M.P. and International Environmentalist), Shri. Vilasrao Deshmukh (Chief-minister of Maharashtra), Shri. Anupam Kher (Actor), Dr. A. D. Sawant (Pro-Vice-Chancellor, University of Mumbai) had spoken about environmental management.

• Industrial visits :
For acquiring practical knowledge related to the syllabus, every year department has organised industrial visits to the various places like Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, Nhava- Sheva, Reliance Industries Ltd., Patalganga, Goa, Bangalore, Ernakulam, Munnar, Kanyakumari and Thriuvanathapuram.
 
• Entrepreneurs invited from industries :
Entrepreneurs from industries were invited to college for an interaction with industrial sector for practical knowledge.
 
• Public relations awareness programme :
competition on public relations awareness programme was held for the S.Y.B.M.S. students on the following topics with a view to develop a competitive feeling among the students.
