Goals and Objectives
• To create curiosity and interest among the students about historical facts and figures culture, heritage and good tradition.
• To make the students realise the past mistakes and to learn to avoid them for be?er future.
• To arouse awareness about local history.
• To create consciousness among the students about curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities through assignments, seminars, projects, guest lectures, educational tours and visits.
• To develop analytical and interpretative skills through field survey and excursion.
• To create a sense of national integration and nationalism.

  Our student Mr. Pramod Namdev Bhagat has secured 70.50% and stood 5th in History (Six units) at the T.Y. B.A. Examination March / April 2005 of University of Mumbai.
 
Organisation of the workshop / seminars / conferences -
  Competitions / special efforts for the development of the students by the department.
  • Presentations at class level are organised for T.Y.B.A. students in order to identify and nurture the potential of the students.
  • Inter-departmental activities are organised such as inviting teachers from Departments of Computer Science and Rural Development to deliver lectures on syllabus oriented topics.
 
Departmental activities :
  • The department regularly organises parents-teachers meetings.
  • The department regularly publishes a departmental magazine ‘Jidnyasa’ since last 5 years.
  • The department organises expert lecture series for T.Y.B.A. students to get the guidance from the experts.
 
Organisation of study tours :
  • The department has been organising study tours at different historical places like forts, caves, museums and monuments. We visited Kulaba fort, Alibag, Prince of Wales Museum, Mumbai, Sinhagad fort and Kelkar museum, Pune, Ajanta and Ellora caves near Aurangabad, Goa and Konkan darshan.
  • Every year we prepare departmental wall paper exhibiting student’s articles.
 
Departmental projects :
  • The department has completed the projects on History of Raigad and History of Panvel
 
Future plans :
  • Establishment of museum for History students.
  • To start certificate and diploma courses in the subject.

  • Published a research paper in state level seminar organised by R. P. Gogate College, of Arts and Science and R. V. Jogalekar College of Commerce, Ratnagiri on ‘To exploration of historical wealth of Konkan’ on 1st and 2nd February 2003. Presented a research paper in state level conference at C. S. College, Satara on 17th and 18th January 2004.
