Effective communication course :

       The Department of English has evolved novel and ambitious programme exclusively for the purpose of F.Y.B.A. English students. The objective behind introduction of this course is to equip the students with communicative approach and train them to use English language effectively and convincingly. The syllabus of this course is designed with the view to create conducive ambiance for the development of successful oral communication keeping in mind obstacles created by mother tongue and environment. The actual problems of the students with regards to pronunciation, sentence formation and presentation are resolved by providing maximum situational exercises. The students are given lot of exercises in order to develop excellent vocabulary, which is considered as hallmark of effective communication.

Handwriting improvement course :

The Department of English has initiated novel programme for the development of impressive handwriting among the students of F.Y.B.A. English. As excellent handwriting is considered as one of the most important aspects of grooming personality. Majority of the students are hailing from vernacular medium as a result, development of wri�en communication is not catered systematically. The main objective behind this handwriting improvement course is to inculcate tools of effective calligraphy among the students and equip them to present coherently in terms of wri�en communication. Students are making separate notebook and practicing exercises on the basis of world famous adage ‘Practice makes man perfect’ A�er completion of fi�y passages, the students accomplish embellishment and beauty to their basic vital skill entitled effective handwriting.

Word power improvement course :

The Department of English has commenced innovative word power improvement course for the students of optional English. As effective communication entirely depends upon caliber of the communicator to grasp more and more words in the realm of knowledge. Acquisition of maximum active vocabulary is the basic parameter of logical power of expression. Students are familiarised with new words and its application with suitable examples as the students are coming from small villages, their word power is restricted. As a result, they experience lot of problems while communicating with others. Students are encouraged to search new words by referring to various magazines as well as newspapers. Special jargons exclusively applied in the realm of English literature are imparted to the students. Special note-book is maintained by the students for enrichment of words as it is greatest assess in the arena of overall development of successful and action-oriented communication.

Application of oxford dictionary :

The Department of English is implementing successfully unique system of application of oxford dictionary to all the students of English literature. The primary aim of this activity is to motivate the students to use dictionary and a�ribute exact meaning of the concerned word in the context of different genres of literature.

Ecstasy of imagination :

The Department of English is preparing highly enticing wallpaper entitled ‘Ecstasy of Imagination’ every year. The main objective behind inauguration of wallpaper is to provide a suitable platform to the creative element and its perfect clarity and brevity to the budding students of English literature. The wallpaper is embodiment of poems, articles and da� definitions wri�en by students. The faculty of imagination is coupled with power of wri�en communication exhibited by the students. The poetic capacity and critical thinking of the students is challenged in the process of composition of wallpaper. This system intensively develops skill of logical presentation of the subject ma�er among the students. The students are taking keen interest in the framing of wallpaper. During the academic year 2004-2005, Dr. R. M. Badode, Associate Professor of English, University of Mumbai inaugurated dazzling wallpaper called ‘Ecstasy of imagination’.

Presentation :

The department is actively involved in organising presentation in the T.Y.B.A. English classroom with the view to create self confidence among the students to express themselves boldly by taking into consideration logical organisation of collected information

. With the application of presentation skill, fear of standing in front of others is removed from the mind of the students. This system improves dra�ing capacity and application of language of students. It imparts to the students methods of using body language effectively for the purpose of conveying desired message. As the topic for the presentation is selected from the drama or novel, it improves skills of critical appreciation of the world classics and produce excellent answers in the university examination. The students are taking keen interest in presentation because it empowers them to improvise themselves in the knack of public speaking. The basic principles of ideal presentation are inculcated among student in order to make them effective communicator in the era of cut-throat competition and globalisation.

Project on advertising :

The department is organising innovative project on advertising intensively to the students of F.Y.B.A. The primary objective behind this project is to acquaint the students with skills of report writing. Advertising is playing very vital role in personal as well as commercial

Expert lecture series :

The department is organising ‘Expert lecture series’ intensively for the students of T.Y.B.A. special English. This innovative system has boosted morale of the students especially in the final examination conducted by University of Mumbai. In the expert lecture series, eminent academician are invited from distinguished colleges for the purpose of imparting valuable techniques and guidelines to the students so that academic feats are accomplished. The expert lecture series facilitate expansion of intellectual horizons, deep understanding, critical appreciation and aesthetic faculty of the students. They obtain vital traits of an ideal answer as well as the process of presentation on the basis of relevant factors incorporated in literary genres. The nature of expert lecture series is extremely interactive as a result reciprocal discussion takes place between intellectual authority and students culminating in acquisition of effective communication skills. The excessive fear regarding examination is removed which enhances self-confidence of the students in the process of presenting excellent answers. The inception of expert lecture series successfully establishes unique communication among various constituents of teaching, learning process in the education system. It enhances exchange of expertised knowledge among teaching faculty for the purpose of overall development of the students. The collaborative efforts on the part of the students as well as teachers result in accomplishment of glorious and commendable success in the annual examination conducted by University of the Mumbai.
